To create a good product design, you need to understand the 4 elements of product design.
1. Purpose – What problem is your product trying to solve? What need does it satisfy? The reason you are creating it.
2. Audience – Who will be using it? What are their background, interests, and needs? How old are they? How will they use it? What other products do they use and how does yours compare to those products? What does their home/office/gym/school environment look like?
3. Solution – The design of your product or service. How will you accomplish the purpose? What features or attributes will make it easy, interesting or engaging for them to use? How will you present it? Will it require an explanation or demonstration to use? Will they need training or support to use it effectively?
4. Value – Is what you are offering valuable enough that people would switch from other products to yours (if another existed)? And if so, what would be their motivation for doing so (if there were no other reason than “because everyone else is”)?

Purpose
The first element is the purpose of your product which is the problem that your product will solve for its users. It is also the reason for coming into existence. A good product must have a purpose that can be explained in one sentence. It can be either practical purpose or emotional purpose, but not both at the same time. Heuristic Evaluation is a method used by designers to evaluate a design against a specific set of criteria, thus revealing strengths and weaknesses. Heuristic evaluation can be very useful in helping you decide on how best to refine a design or evaluate the adequacy of an existing design against its intended purpose.
Audience
The second element of a good product design is the audience who will use this product and how they will use it. If you don’t know your audience, how can you know how best to design your product or service for them? You need market research that focuses on people who fit within your target audience profile, who have similar demographics and psychographics as those who fit within your target market profile, and who are within the target customer group for your specific niche market segmentation defined by your target audience demographic characteristics, psychographics, and geographics.
Solution
The third element of a good product design is the solution or design of the product. In this case, the solution is about how you will accomplish the purpose. A good product design should be easy to use, interesting and engaging to use, and feel natural and intuitive to use. It should also be able to perform a specific function that fulfills its purpose. If your product is solving a problem, then it must solve it better than anything else on the market for your product to be successful. It’s important to remember that people buy products for one of two reasons: either because they need something that solves a problem or because they want something new or novel that fulfills their needs or wants.
Value
The fourth element of a good product design is the value that you are offering. The word ‘value’ is defined as an appraisal of the relative worth of something, especially in terms of the satisfaction it brings to someone. Value is what your audience will get out of using your product or service, and not just what you think they should get out of it.
